Italia, Down Through the Ages

With a focus on either the Italian language or the history of Italy, this tour will be tailored to suit.   

As an Italian immersion experience, students will speak Italian throughout the tour, have an Italian speaking guide and we can add in some fun experiences like learning to cook Italian style.  Meanwhile students will gain a great deal of knowledge of the extraordinary history of Italy.  Travelling from Rome through to stunning Venice via some of the world’s most amazing cities, students will learn about ancient Rome through the incredible inventions, art and architecture of the Renaissance.  To climb Mt Vesuvius after seeing the destruction it caused is quite sombre, yet it is easy to image life as once lived in Herculaneum or Pompeii with the streets, houses, shops and the amphitheatre somehow intact.  Even the grooves of the chariots still exist in the roads.  Contrast this with the moving and beautiful Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, a whole complex of ruins in the Forum and the gruesome history of the Coliseum.  This educational tour, from whichever perspective, creates a lifetime of memories and a true understanding of Italy, its language, culture and history.  Language classes are available for a language tour.  Four or five mornings of ltalian lessons accompanied by culture and sightseeing in the afternoons.
